
Today we’re celebrating the kind of love that says, “Basta sama-sama, kaya natin.” First, we revisit Kulas of Becoming Filipino, whose story reminds us that community can turn visitors into family. Then we cheer for Mindoro’s tamaraw protectors as Toyota Foundation boosts their mission to keep our native buffalo safe. May this issue nudge us to show up for each other and for the land we call home.

Kulas (Kyle Jennermann) came as a traveler and stayed because he felt what we call kapwa, shared humanity. His Becoming Filipino journey spotlights everyday kindness, from sari-sari smiles to bayanihan on the road. He’s now a naturalized Filipino, proving that love of community can change your address and your heart. For Gen Z, it’s a reminder: your “home” can also be a mission and amplify the good you see.

The Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation turned over a new Tamaraw utility vehicle, “Bantay Tamaraw Kits,” and funds to strengthen Mindoro’s wildlife protection. This supports the DENR’s Tamaraw Conservation Program and the rangers who guard one of our most iconic species. When we care for the tamaraw, we care for food webs, forests, and futures. Conservation is not just science, it’s community. Let’s root for rangers like we root for our teams.
