A simple Facebook post comparing mindset and skill ended up striking a nerve online. People related to it because almost everyone has experienced the difference between working with someone highly skilled but hard to deal with, versus someone still learning but eager to improve. In many Filipino workplaces, pakikisama, humility, and willingness to adapt matter just as much as talent. The conversation became less about choosing one over the other and more about how strong teams are built. Skills can always be developed, but openness, accountability, and the ability to work well with others often shape the environment people remember most.

Rizal’s Spoon and Fork

Jose Rizal’s personal spoon and fork are heading to auction with a starting bid of one million pesos. The flatware was reportedly used by Rizal in 1887 after fears of poisoning following the release of Noli Me Tangere. Beyond the historical value, the story struck people because it made Rizal feel less distant and symbolic and more human. It’s strange and moving to imagine national history attached to ordinary objects someone once held during uncertain times. Sometimes history survives not only in monuments, but in the quiet everyday things left behind.
