Spider silk is moving from nature documentaries to operating rooms. Researchers in Oxford are studying how drag-line silk from golden orb-web spiders can help repair severed nerves. Unlike our temporary internal scaffolding that lasts about 10 days, spider silk can last up to 150 days. That longer window allows nerves to regrow more effectively.
